Telkom Institute of Technology ( IT Telkom) ) at the beginning was named STT Telkom, is the first institution in Indonesia specializing in the field “Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) “ Major. IT telkom is projected to prepare ICT professionals employee, who were skilled and insightful at business, in response to the demand of the development of the rapidly ICT industry . The average growth telecommunications business sector in Indonesia has increased 20% each year. This growth includes communication business services based on cellular, telephone, internet and broadband access. With the amount of growth, the estimated need for Infocom employee in Indonesia at year 2010 about 320.000 employee. Currently Infocom graduates are from public and privates universities, including IT Telcom. But the number of graduates from universities that have related program, only about 20.000 people in one year. In 2007, IT Telkom planning to be an international university at infocom program and to be agents of change in shaping human intelligence and competitive.

VISION
To be an international university which are excellent at infocom and to be agents change of change in shaping human intelligence and competitive, as well as play a role in the formation of a prosperous society.
MISSION
- Conducting international-standard education to develop professional resources in infocom.
- Conducting research from international standard to develop science and technology and also innovation in infocom.
- Organizing community service and actively build synergies with the industry / home and abroad institution.

PURPOSE
- Improving the institution competitiveness to serve infocom industries and society.
- Producing competent graduates who are able to work, self development and entrepreneurship in infocom.
- Producing creative works in accordance with the society demands and needs and challenges of the rapidly changes in infocom both nationally or internationally.
- A Future global and insightful of value system. Uphold the integrity and professionalism, stakeholder orientation, focus on quality, creative and innovative, honest and noble.

Currently, IT Telkom campus in South Bandung area about 12 km from Bandung downtown (Gedung Sate) with a location easily accessible by public transportation. IT Telkom campus location was once a historic district, where the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia spread around the archipelago and the world through a radio transmitter that is in this location. Formerly there were 13 radio transmitter tower on this land, and currently remains 2 towers are used as historic monuments as well as the antenna laboratory.

Firstly, IT Telkom campuses spread over 3 locations. Campus 1 is on the Soekarno Hatta road, Campus 2 on the Geger Kalong Hilir street, and Campus 3 is on the prince Hasan Mustafa road. In 1993 IT Telkom had its own campus in Telekomunikasi street, Terusan Buah Batu , and a year later all the teaching and learning activities centered on the new campus. In the same year IT Telkom Campus was inagurated by President Mr. Soeharto on March 24, 1994. Occupying a land area of 48 ha, IT Telkom campus has a good educational facilities with the arrangement of beautiful environment, so that the process of learning and teaching can be more conducive.
The aim of establishing these schools is for meeting the demand of experts in the telecommunications industry grew very rapidly, PT Telkom is very concerned about this institution so that PT Telkom provides full scholarships to students and a bond to force 1991 and 1992. The existence of climate change in the telecommunications industry (PT Telkom no longer monopolize), scholarship programs and a bond to be dismissed and is currently IT Telkom became an independent college.
